The DARC senior men’s squad has gone from strength to strength over the past few seasons. Recent season’s successes include: fielding two highly competitive eights at Head of the River Race in London, winning Championship coxless fours at Durham Regatta and qualifying for the Wyfold Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta in 2023.
We have a weekly training plan which includes a mix of ergs, weights, cross-training and of course, water sessions. We appreciate that everyone has lives outside of a boat, so the training plan is completely flexible according to our athletes’ availability.
Unlike some other local clubs, we are blessed on our stretch of the River Wear that it is very rare for it to be too windy or choppy to train on the water. In the lead up to the major national head races, we arrange outings on the Tees to best prepare for the often more challenging conditions on the Tideway in London.
Our squad caters for senior rowers, scullers and coxes of all abilities who want to train and race competitively at both local and national events.
We are now hoping to expand our squad and build upon these successes in the 2024/25 season. If you are interested in hearing more about what we have to offer, or want to come down for a chat please email us or fill in the Google form.
