Men’s and Women’s crews from Durham ARC took part in trials at Henley during consecutive weeks in June.
On Friday, June 21st the Women’s quad of Anna Golightly, Rachel Wilson, Lilly Muskett and Gabby Maxfield started in the time trial for the Chairman’s Trophy for Aspirational coxless quads at Henley Women’s Regatta, completing the 1400 metre time trial in 5.38.2 which put them in 23rd place, 8 seconds off the 16th place that would have qualified them for the knockout stage of the regatta on Saturday.
The Aspirational category features both University and Club entries ensuring a high calibre of competition.

The Men’s coxless four was in action the following week in the time trial for the Wyfold Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta on Friday, June 28th. Following last years qualification the odds were against them with the 11 places available being contested by 37 crews. A time of 7.09.7 gave them 16th place, only 2 seconds off qualification for Saturdays draw for the last 32. The knockout competition starts on Tuesday, July 2nd and continues every day until July 7th.

Both regattas attracted record entries this year, 579 for Henley Women’s Regatta being an increase of 32 compared to 2023, while the 772 entries for Henley Royal included a record 218 from overseas.
The Henley season continues with Henley Masters Regatta celebrating its 30th year on July 12th and 13th but without representation from DARC.
