World Rowing Masters Regatta 2024

Masters enjoyed an excellent trip to Brandenburg in Germany for the 2024 World Rowing Masters Regatta which took place over 5 days between September 11th and 15th. Celebrating the 50th anniversary this year’s Regatta attracted 4843 entries from 721 clubs around the world to the Beetzsee to contest 148 events and around 680 races over the 1000 metre course.

Because of the large number of entries each crew is assigned only one race and all races are straight finals on the 8-lane course with no qualification or progression involved.

The Masters Women contested 3 events and were pleased with their performance using unfamiliar boats

The WMasB 4x- raced first on Wednesday with Fe Ashton, Debra Harland, Kate Sowden and Becky Chilcott placing 8th in their final.

On Thursday the Tees/DARC MasG 8+ coxed by Sarah Rutter from Durham ARC (above) were delighted to win gold medals by taking victory in their final.

Friday races produced 5th places for Debra Harland, Becky Chilcott, Kate Sowden, Fe Ashton and cox James Chilcott in the WMasB 4+, Debra Harland and Kate Sowden in the WMasB 2x, and the Tees/DARC composite MasF 8+.

Difficult conditions led to some pauses in the schedule and Saturday afternoon racing being abandoned.

Results of all races are available on Regatta Central and livestream coverage from each day can be found on the World Rowing website and YouTube.
