Two DARC crews went to Henley on July 8th for the second of the two days of competition at the 2023 Henley Masters Regatta which draws entries from across the UK and overseas for the annual competition for rowers over 27 years of age over 1000 metres of the famous Henley reach.
Both were handed byes in the draw which saw the Women’s Masters B coxless quad pitted in a side-by-side confrontation against hosts Upper Thames RC in the semi-final on Saturday morning, while Helen McMillan was drawn against Auriol Kensington in the Women’s Masters E single sculls half an hour later.
As it turned out the second race started somewhat later than planned following a 90 minute delay because of a thunderstorm, and unfortunately neither crew progressed to the final.
As usual entries for the 360 available places filled very quickly and a total of 1240 competitors from 170 clubs and 12 countries took to the water.
