Durham’s Roger Stainforth continued his preparations for the World Rowing Indoor Championships with a double success at the Scottish Indoor Championships, held online on January 22nd.
Competing from home Roger recorded times of 7.41.6 in winning the Masters 75-79 2k and 1.44.9 to also take victory over the 500 metre distance, on both occasions overcoming Bruce Slade of Fitness Matters Exeter who he also defeated when winning both events at the British Rowing Indoor Championships in December.
Results and race videos courtesy of Time Team for the 2km and 500m races have been published.
Taking place for the second time as a virtual event the Championships moved from its usual date in November and combined with the Welsh Indoor Championships.
Roger will be taking part in the Canadian Indoor Championships next weekend before the World Championships on February 25th and 26th.
The English Indoor Championships was planned for February 6th as a physical event but it has had to be cancelled because of ongoing refurbishments at the Manchester Velodrome.
