The transfer to the new company Durham Amateur Rowing Club 1860 Limited continues and the 1860 Bar & Kitchen will now cover all of the club’s drinks and catering activities.
In addition to the Beer Garden we have also opened a Coffee Shop which will be open seven days a week from 10am until 2.30pm serving home made scones and delicious treats. We are happy to welcome Jade and Holly from the Secret Garden Coffee Shop at Houghall to our staff team, after the Secret Garden closed its doors at the end of May due to redevelopment of the site.
We are also hosting the drinks reception and after parties for three of the Durham University and College Charity Fashion Shows in the beer garden between June 16th and 18th. The fashion shows themselves will take place in ‘The Tent’ on the Racecourse.
We then host five full fashion shows including the drinks reception, show and after party, between June 19th and 24th. These will take place in a combination of the beer garden and a large marquee in the car park. Parking for members is available as usual in the University Car park on the gravel track next to the club.
All organisers, guests and staff will take regular Covid tests during the week of the shows.
The Beer Garden is open from 12 noon to 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and until 6pm on Sundays, serving classic bar snacks all in a spacious riverside location in the heart of Durham City.
