Following further advice from Government and British Rowing, Club Officers met tonight to discus the club’s next steps in relation to the Covid-19 outbreak.
The decision was made that the club will close completely at end of business today, Tuesday 17th March, initially until Friday 3rd April. This is in line with the closure of the British Rowing Offices and will be reviewed regularly by the club officers.
The Caravan Site will remain open but without access to the building.
If you have a function booked with us we will contact you in the next couple of days to discuss options available. Any function which can not proceed as a result of the closure can be moved to an alternative date or a full refund will be available.
We would ask members to please keep paying your membership subscriptions, as we will rely heavily on this income during any closure period in order for the club to remain financially viable. This will be our only remaining source of income given the many, understandable event and function cancellations. We appreciate that some members may themselves be hit by hardship as a result of the virus. If this is the case please contact us in the first instance to discuss confidentially before cancelling direct debits as we can look at alternative arrangements. Please all members take into consideration that we are charged for any failed collection attempts.
We appreciate the social importance of the club to our members, and squad leaders/captains will be in touch to maintain social inclusion. Coaches will be putting together programmes of suggested activities that members can carry out whilst away from the club.
We will be taking the opportunity, whilst the building is closed, to do some essential maintenance so that this can then be carried out without disruption to the membership. The staff will be doing all they can to make progress while the restrictions are in place.
The club’s staff will remain contactable during this period of closure, as we know how important the club is to many of our members and that some may feel further isolated as a result. For members who may need support during this period, the club will do all within it’s power to provide any assistance it can. Please contact Mark or the club captains by email if this may be valuable.
We wish everybody the best for the period ahead.
